Terezi Pyrope sat in the middle of her room, a frown replacing her usual grin as the moon shone sinisterly through the window, reflecting in the round eyes of dozens of scalemates staring her down. The lights were dim, unlike their usual bright state, and the murmering buzz of her computer's monitor was the only noise to be heard by an onlooker at least. In the blind girl's head, voices discussed her wrongs and actions. Her many.. Friends. She heard all of them in her head now, they were discussing her mistakes. Breathing slowly, but steadily, she thought it all over again. It was all over. She'd betrayed him, her matesprit. This was her trial. The rows and rows of glossy button eyes stared at her, searching into her soul. It was now her turn to be judged, to be the guilty one. She gripped the rough rope in her hand and gritted her teeth, teal tears fell from behind her red glasses, only imagining what her 'friends' were doing now.
Nepeta was probably all over him now, trying her hardest to make him happier. Fuck it, she probably was making him happier. Happier then he was before. The thought of that made her sick. Dave probably moved on too, not caring that he ruined so much by doing so little. She took her free hand and pulled off her glasses, clenching her fist as tightly as she could and shattering the red glass onto the floor and into her flesh, leaking out more teal from her body. She found her way to her feet and looked in the direction of the scalemates, before releasing her grip on the broken glasses and whispering, "I'm sorry you guys... I guess it's my time, right?" She pulled a red scalemate hoody from the floor and slipped it on, beginning to pick up every single little dragon, hugging the survivors each one final goodbye. "You guys were the good ones.. Better than me at least, look I broke the law before any of you." Her quivering hands gently lifted up the final one, a teal one with red eyes and a matching stomach. She stared in it's direction, and licked the button eye. Savoring the sweet taste as more tears dripped down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry Karkat." Her rope was soon tied around her neck, and her arms hugged the final person she wished to think about. Shakily, her hands opened the window and she crawled out, walking atop the thickest branch. Her old victims stared from their gallows, plush toys who's lives were cut short from them. She sat down on the branch, and set the scalemate in a nook beside her, struggling to tie the other end of the rope to the tree. Her feet dangled off the edge as she gripped her hands on the very edge of the branch, ready to push.
Suddenly a familiar voice rung throughout the building, through the window, into her ears. "TEREZI WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?" She listened and began making little gasps for air, not from the noose, but from the tears that clouded her remaining senses. She sat, waiting, maybe he would come and it would all be okay. "TEREZI I'M NOT JOKING. WHERE THE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU?!" The voice grew closer and closer, until she could smell his candy red blood by the window. She inhaled the scent, waiting for him to tell her it would be okay, and then she remembered.
She was guilty. "TEREZI WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOIN- OH GOG NO NO NO." She heard the shuffling of him trying to run along the rough surface of the tree branch, but it was too late, too.fucking.late. She felt his hand reach for her shoulder, then she pushed off.
Karkat Vantas felt his heart stop, and then begin beating faster. He felt a rush of adrenaline through his blood and reached his hand for her's, almost toppling off their remaining chance for survival. Thankfully her rope only managed to put a foot between the branch and the top of her head. "fuck it terezi. Do not let go." He gripped onto her hand and watched as she began choking, gasping for any air at all. This was all his fault. His fault for getting fucking upset with her. "TEREZI GOD DAMMIT IT'S NOT YOUR TIME YET." He pulled at her hand, grasping the other along with it. Suddenly he gained more strength than he had ever felt before, and pulled her back up onto the branch.
But he fell back, off of the tree branch and toppled down into a shit load of smaller ones. His heart raced even faster and he realized he had been crying for quite a while now, the tears flying off his face, into the wind, he landed on a large branch, feeling his bone snap. Screaming in pain, he glanced up above him, all he could see was her hand, dangling over the edge. He had no idea if she was alive or not.
Life began making more sense as he stared up into the limp hand above him. Weakly, he forced his hand up, reaching towards it, but it was too far away.
His leg was becoming sticky, but he didn't bother to look at it, already knowing it was broken. All he wanted to look at was the girl above him, but he couldn't. No, he needed to help her. He struggled to turn over onto his hands and knees, and dragged himself through yet another window, landing onto a table. He looked at a computer sitting ontop of it, and looked at the screen. He threw himself onto the floor, feeling yet another bone snap, and winced, wanting to scream in pain, but no, he needed to help her. His fingers moved quickly as he logged onto his Trollian and began talking to John. Why? Because he was the only person helpful with these kinds of things. He told him everything, then began typing slower and slower, his vision becoming hazy.

His eyes closed, and his hand sat still on the keyboard, as all of his senses faded away.
"hey Karkles you awake yet?" "kaaaarkaat?" "karkat wake up dumbass.." "hey i love you asshole.." That's all he heard in his dreams. Dreams... One yellow eye opened and he felt a warmth on top of him, looking up, he noticed the room he laid in had a golden glow and red walls, ontop of him lay his matesprit. She had her cheek rested on his chest and her eyes were wide open, staring out the window, smiling like she used to. "T-Terezi...?" She looked at him, and smiled wider, her glasses weren't on her face, and she giggled a bit. "hey sleepyhead!" He looked at her as she crawled off of him and sat on the bed right beside him, he sat up and stared at her. "Where are we Terezi? What just fucking happened?!" She frowned yet again, and began talking slowly.
"John showed up too late. You must of broken more than your leg. You got a concussion, lost way too much blood, and passed out."
"What do you mean?!" He looked around, still confused, and felt a pair of lips touch his softly, and her endless eyes looked deep into his.
"We're dead Karkat."
